Adventure and freedom

Rent a Vintage Volkswagen T2 camper in the South of France: freedom and adventure guaranteed!

Preparing a camper road trip

It is a good idea to prepare your camper road trip to a certain extent. Customers who went before you can help you with this. We have included their stories and experiences in the tips and rough route description.

Campsites for the camper trip

And how about campsite tips! About this, we also learnt from our customers! Not all people have the same preferences as to campsites. If you like a campsite depends on budget, facilities, child-friendliness etc. In brief, some research and making lists of campsites can certainly add to your holiday enjoyment. To maintain your freedom you can book your next campsite by telephone each time.

Navigating during the camper trip

In all of our Volkswagen campers there is a Michelin map of the region. A navigation system is a valuable addition, but certainly not ideal for navigating all the time. Scenic roads are indicated on the Michelin map with a green line. Choose a route with as many ‘green roads’ as possible and a beautiful road trip is ensured. You cannot get lost, for being underway is your destination! At the end of the day, use the navigation system for the final kilometres to the campsite.

Camper road trip

If you rent the Volkswagen Van for a week, you can make a lovely road trip of about 600 km. Drive north and visit Avignon. Then follow the D900 through the Luberon eastward and visit beautiful villages north and south of this road, with unique sights such as Gordes, Fontaine de Vaucluse, Rousillon, Bonnieux and Lourmarin. Continue east via the Valansole for the necessary chilling at the Lake of Saint-Croix and the Gorges-du-Verdon. From the Gorges-du-Verdon you go through the Provence Vert to the coast for a visit of Saint-Tropez. Follow the coastline of the Côte d’Azur to the west via Le LaVandou, Bornes-les-Mimosas, Sanary-sur-Mer, Bandol and Cassis. From Cassis, drive to the attractive city of Aix-en-Provence, after which you’ll be almost at the end of your trip.

Route idea for two weeks

If you rent your Volkswagen camper for two weeks or more, you can first drive further west to explore the Camargue, Arles, the Alpilles and Saint-Remy-de-Provence. You can also discover the Vaucluse and the area around Mont Ventoux.

The Provence and Côte d’Azur in full glory
What is special about the above route is that it contains virtually all the Provence and Côte d’Azur have to offer: mountains, vineyards and olive groves, marshes, sleepy villages, lavender fields, a lake, canyons, rivers, the Mediterranean Sea, port towns, bathing resorts and historic and cultural cities!
